Dama (Italian Checkers)

On desktop, drag pieces with the mouse. On mobile, tap a piece to select it and tap a highlighted destination square to move. You can choose the player color, who starts first, and start a new match at any time.

How it works

Web implementation of Italian checkers with desktop and mobile controls. You can configure player color, starting side, AI difficulty (6, 8, 10, 12), and official-rule mode. Mandatory captures and multi-capture chains are handled automatically, with clear highlights for legal moves and for the latest computer move.

Implemented rules

Current gameplay behavior

Pieces move one square diagonally forward.
Capturing is mandatory whenever available.
Regular pieces cannot capture opponent kings.
A piece is promoted to king on the opposite edge.
Multi-jump capture chains are enforced when available.
The maximum-capture tournament rule is not auto-enforced.
On mobile, tap-to-play is available: select piece, then tap highlighted destination.
On your turn, movable pieces and kings are highlighted automatically.
The piece or king moved by the computer stays highlighted until the next AI move.
With official rule mode enabled, White always makes the first move.
The effective AI search depth is shown after each computer turn.
